Maurepas hasn't had much luck against Ascension Christian recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Wolves will square off against Ascension Christian at 4:00 p.m. Ascension Christian took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Maurepas, who comes in off a win.
Maurepas is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Donaldsonville on Tuesday as they made off with a 22-5 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Alex Aime made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Aime was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kade Penalber was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Maurepas: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Gibson Hopp, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Ascension Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of St. John by a score of 7-5.
Maurepas' win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-11. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Ascension Christian, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 18-7.
Maurepas suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Ascension Christian in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
