The Van Buren Pointers will head out on the road to face off against the West Memphis Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Van Buren's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 50-13 victory over Siloam Springs. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Van Buren had established a 36 point advantage.
Van Buren got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Trenton Cooley out in front who picked up 237 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Bryce Perkins was another key contributor, throwing for 398 yards and four touchdowns while completing 86.2% of his passes.
Even though West Memphis has not done well against Searcy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. West Memphis was the clear victor by a 42-20 margin over Searcy. The win was just what West Memphis needed coming off of a 56-31 loss in their prior match.
Their wins bumped Van Buren to 4-6 and West Memphis to 7-3.
