North Olmsted came out on top against Valley Forge on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run first inning. The Eagles took their match against the Patriots 12-9. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won eight in a row.
Elena Scott was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Scott was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Layla Salameh was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Outrich, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
North Olmsted kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
North Olmsted's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Normandy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
