Basketball Game Preview: Eastmoor Academy Warriors vs. Independence 76ers

Eastmoor Academy is on a five-game streak of home losses also dating back to last season, Independence an 18-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The Eastmoor Academy Warriors will host the Independence 76ers at 7:00 p.m. Eastmoor Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.7 points per game this season.

Eastmoor Academy and West faced off in a cross-town battle on Tuesday. Eastmoor Academy came out on top against West by a score of 62-49.

Eastmoor Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dekar Moultry, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 boards. Moultry has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Gabe Wooden, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 15 points.

Eastmoor Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in eight consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Independence played a tough game on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 71-31 loss at the hands of Walnut Ridge. The 76ers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-14.

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Eastmoor Academy, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-7.

Eastmoor Academy strolled past Independence in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a score of 82-63. Does Eastmoor Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Independence turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
