Queen's Grant's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Za'Miya Bynum, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 22 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Bynum is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 27 games she's played dating back to last season. Misa Garris was another key player, going 7-for-9 on her way to 17 points in addition to eight assists and seven boards.
Queen's Grant smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.
Meanwhile, Jackson Day strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against Butler as they made off with a 61-40 win. Fans of the Mariners have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
Jackson Day's win came from a few key players Queen's Grant will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ahylia White, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jade Marshall, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards.
Queen's Grant's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Jackson Day, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Queen's Grant has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Jackson Day struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Queen's Grant strolled past Jackson Day when the teams last played back in February by a score of 62-45. Do the Stallions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mariners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
