The Basic Wolves pushed their score all the way to 56 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 69-56 to Canyon Springs. Basic lost against Canyon Springs in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 76-41 score last time.
Basic's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alvonte' Nelson, who scored ten points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Christian Baltierrez, who scored 11 points.
Canyon Springs' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emanuel Custard led the charge by scoring 14 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Custard has scored all season. Te?Shawn Spencer was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Basic's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Canyon Springs, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
Basic will head out on the road to take on Bonanza at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bonanza has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5. As for Canyon Springs, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Palo Verde at 6:30 p.m. Palo Verde has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 206 points over their last three matchups.
