Basketball Recap: Shakopee Sets Scoring Season-High Against Edina

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shakopee). They walked away with a 60-49 win over the Edina Hornets on Wednesday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Sabers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 204th, while the Hornets are ranked 82nd).

Shakopee moved to 3-11 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Edina, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shakopee will head out to square off against Rosemount at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rosemount knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Shakopee likes a good challenge. As for Edina, they are taking a road trip to face off against Minnetonka at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Minnetonka's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games.
