It was a good run, but the San Marcos Rattlers unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 71-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Seguin. San Marcos was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Seguin apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2016.
When it comes to explaining why San Marcos lost, one person who can't be blamed is Donavan Riddick. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 23 points and 10 rebounds. The match was Riddick's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Zyair Jolivette, who scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds.
John Jackson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Seguin, dropping a double-double on 41 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Jackson has scored at least 25% of Seguin's points. Corey Dailey was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
San Marcos' defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Seguin, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-0.
San Marcos' road trip will continue as they head out to face Pieper at 5:30 p.m. on December 2nd. Pieper knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully San Marcos likes a good challenge. As for Seguin, they will play host again and welcome Steele, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Steele is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
