On Tuesday May 19,
Plano West High School showcased its prowess as a powerhouse in the great State of Texas! Plano West was chosen as one of ten boys' basketball teams to be honored on the 9th Annual MaxPreps Basketball Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard. During the school's yearly award ceremonies and pep rally, Plano's students, known as members of the "Wolf Pack," proudly celebrated a year of milestones in academics, the arts, and athletics.
When the students heard that their Wolves ranked No. 6 in the nation by MaxPreps—out of over 20,000 schools across America—the auditorium came unglued with the roar from the proud students. From MaxPreps, Dustin Gaines was on hand to honor the Plano West Varsity basketball team—not only for winning the Texas 6a state title, but for being one of the few schools across the country to receive the prestigious Army National Guard national ranking trophy. Gaines introduced Sergeant Reeves, from the Texas Army National Guard to present the prestigious Minuteman trophy to Coach Morgan and the Wolves.
"During this season, everyone knows that these Wolves couldn't have done it alone and without the help of you—the Wolf Pack—to finish as state champions," said SGT Reeves. When the crowd finally settled, albeit momentarily, SGT Reeves presented Coach Morgan with the Army National Guard national ranking trophy and the rowdy Wolf Pack came back to life as Coach Morgan welcomed the trophy to its new home at Plano West.
Overall, it was an amazing day at Plano West as the school recognized excellence in academics, artistic creativity, and athletic dominance in the Lone Star State. With Coach Morgan at the helm— and Plano West's Wolf Pack standing behind him—Plano West may need to build more trophy cases for its bright future of more championships and accolades!
