Manheim Central hasn't had much luck against Donegal recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Barons will take on the Indians at 4:15 p.m. Manheim Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Manheim Central earned a 10-5 victory over Ephrata. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Barons.
Kendal Newswanger made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Newswanger was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Manheim Central let Abby Logan and Rilee Bender run wild. Logan went 4-for-5 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base, while Bender went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Those two triples gave Logan a new career-high. Paige Garner was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Meanwhile, Donegal never let their opponents score on Friday. Everything went their way against East Pennsboro as they made off with a 14-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Like Manheim Central, Donegal also got a great game from a two-way player: Jordin Meyers. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Meyers has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double.
In other batting news, Donegal got a massive performance out of Lea Krow, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Nyah Gibbs also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Donegal was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Pennsboro only posted a batting average of .000.
Manheim Central now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Donegal, their record now sits at 14-5.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Manheim Central has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .441. However, it's not like Donegal struggles in that department as they've averaged .460. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Manheim Central suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Donegal in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Barons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
