Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Ayala Bulldogs, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell 38-28 to Culver City on Friday. Ayala's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Ayala lost, one person who can't be blamed is Marquis Monroe. Despite the final result, he rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 87 receiving yards. Maximus Barroso was another key contributor, throwing for 180 yards and two touchdowns.
Culver City got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Myles Singleton out in front who picked up 145 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a rushing scores. The team also got some help courtesy of Pierce Reynoso, who rushed for 163 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.6 yards per carry.
Ayala's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Culver City, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Ayala does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Culver City will look to defend their home field on Friday against Capistrano Valley at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Capistrano Valley is ranked 75th, while Culver City is ranked 85th).
