The Los Altos Eagles will face off against the Los Gatos Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Los Altos is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Last Thursday, Los Altos didn't have quite enough to beat Milpitas and fell 8-7. The Eagles have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Isabella Cirimele made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Even though they lost, Los Altos hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Los Gatos came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Mustangs as they made off with a 10-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won four games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Ava Norquist made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addie Sorto, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Tessa Lilienstein, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Los Gatos now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Los Altos, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Los Altos hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. However, it's not like Los Gatos struggles in that department as they've averaged .369. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Los Altos might still be hurting after the 14-1 loss they got from Los Gatos in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will Los Altos have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
