Baseball Recap: Waynesburg Central Has No Trouble Against Brownsville

Waynesburg Central won against Brownsville on Tuesday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. Waynesburg Central put the hurt on Brownsville with a sharp 13-5 win. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Tyler Groves was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. Groves was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Waynesburg Central got a massive performance out of Alex VanSickle, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two triples and two runs. Those two triples gave VanSickle a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Derek Turcheck, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI.

The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Brownsville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
