The Hubbard Jaguars will head out on the road to challenge the Axtell Longhorns at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Hubbard and 17 for Axtell.
Hubbard suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Marlin, falling 81-9. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hubbard has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Axtell suffered a rough 46-24 loss at the hands of Bremond on Friday. While losing is never fun, Axtell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1400th, while Bremond is ranked 211th).
Hubbard has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Axtell, they dropped their record down to 0-15 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home.
Hubbard might still be hurting after the 40-20 defeat they got from Axtell when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Hubbard avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
