Inter-County - Silver recap Oct. 9, 2012
Glendale and Tussey Mountain played the most hotly contested game in Inter-County - Silver this week, with Glendale eventually emerging with a 20-14 victory. Damon Braniff ran for 114 yards and caught one passes for four yards in the win.
The Vikings made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,843 from 10,345. The improvement was the result of 20-14 victory over the Titans last week.
Moshannon Valley's dynamic duo of Tanner Dipko and Kent Stewart proved tough for Claysburg-Kimmel to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Dipko threw for 123 yards and one touchdown and Stewart had 82 yards receiving. James Stodart helped Moshannon Valley's passing attack out by catching two balls for 37 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Dipko of the Black Knights/Damsels is the league leader in passing yards this season with 847. He has also thrown three touchdowns. On the ground, Juniata Valley's Brett Grissinger has rushed for 784 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Devin Weyandt. The Claysburg-Kimmel star has 22 catches for 333 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Glendale takes on Moshannon Valley. Matt Irvine's team is currently in third, while Michael Keith's team is in second.
The Hornets led Inter-County - Silver in scoring this week after putting up 28 points on Williamsburg. Grissinger ran for 102 yards and caught two passes for 10 yards in the win.
