The Tradition Prep Pirates were the 63-61 winner over the Sebastian River Sharks when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Tradition Prep took a 62-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sebastian River on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Tradition Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 579th, while Sebastian River is ranked 226th).
Tradition Prep's loss came despite strong showings from Jayden Harris and Aydan Fields. Harris scored 18 points, while Fields scored 14 points. Harris scored a full 36% of Tradition Prep's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joksan Pena, who scored 6 points.
Among those leading the charge was Keenan Matthews, who scored 20 points along with 5 rebounds. Amarion Smith was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with 6 rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Tradition Prep and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Sebastian River, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.
Tradition Prep will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Westwood at 7:00 p.m. As for Sebastian River, they will head out on the road to face off against Space Coast at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
