The Boardman Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their tenth straight loss. They fell 52-42 to Howland. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Boardman of the 65-56 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Boardman still got an impressive performance from Grayson Eicher, who scored ten points along with five rebounds. Noah Ziak was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Howland had a senior duo take command as Alex Henry dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds and John Perry dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Henry pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Chieffo, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Boardman's loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-10. As for Howland, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Boardman will square off against Louisville at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Louisville will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak. Howland on the road again on Tuesday and play against Harding at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
