The Primero Bulldogs's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Creede Miners at 1:00 p.m. on December 8th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Primero is ranked 125th, while Creede is ranked 134th).
After soaring to 57 points the game before, Primero were a bit more limited in their game on Saturday. They were outmatched by Springer on the road and fell 63-19.
Despite the loss, Primero had strong showings from Isabela Maldonado, who scored 13 points along with 8 rebounds, and Aimee Mincic , who scored 1 points along with 5 rebounds. Maldonado scored a full 68.4% of Primero's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Creede's three-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Antonito 58-14 on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 27-4.
Creede can attribute much of their success to Lila Fairchild, who scored 23 points along with 8 rebounds and 7 steals. The matchup was Fairchild's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Laing, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 1-2.
Friday's game is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Primero have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Creede struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.3 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Primero couldn't quite finish off Creede in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 and fell 27-24. Can Primero avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
