Marie Philip has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Covenant Christian Academy Cougars at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Marie Philip will be strutting in after a victory while the Cougars will be coming in after a loss.
On Friday, Marie Philip didn't have too much trouble with the at home as they won 57-39.
Jeremy Novas and Xavier DeLeon were among the main playmakers for Marie Philip as the former dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds and the latter dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten steals. DeLeon is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Riebe, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 73-43, which was the final score in Covenant Christian Academy's tilt against the Lions on Thursday.
Marie Philip's win bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Covenant Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Marie Philip might still be hurting after the 67-46 defeat they got from the Cougars in their previous matchup on Monday. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Marie Philip was down 34-11.
