East Lake's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over Hollins. Considering the Eagles have won 15 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Lucy Mondok was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Ali Sheffield was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Anna Folger, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
East Lake hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive games.
Palm Harbor University came out on top against Osceola on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. The Hurricanes walked away with a 6-3 win over the Warriors. The Hurricanes haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Like East Lake, Palm Harbor University also got a great game from a two-way player: Mylie Stout. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Stout was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run.
In other batting news, Emma Shipley and Jessica Baker did most of the damage at the plate: Shipley went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Baker went 2-for-3 with one home run. That's the most hits Baker has posted since back in March.
East Lake has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Palm Harbor University, their victory bumped their record up to 20-5.
