Football Recap: Morton Skates Past Richland with Ease

Morton never got on the board in their matchup last Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Richland on Friday. They breezed past the Rangers to the tune of 51-7. The Panthers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since September 27, 2024 (when they won 52-0).

Morton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Domingo Deering out in front who rushed for 107 yards and one TD on only 12 carries. Deering really tore up the turf during one magnificent 76-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Avonte Reese, who picked up 104 receiving yards and one score.

Morton's run defense was locked in: Richland could only muster two yards per carry. The team can thank Damaryn Anderson for the heroic effort on defense: he. Morton didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged eight.

Morton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 27.0 points over those games. As for Richland, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-2 record.

Morton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 14-7 win against Mendenhall on the 10th. As for Richland, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 36-0 victory against Raymond on the 10th.
