The Old Fort Stockaders will take on the Lakota Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Old Fort is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Old Fort is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They came up short against Hopewell-Loudon, falling 11-1. The contest marked the Stockaders' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Old Fort saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Adelsperger, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakota). They put the hurt on Fostoria with a sharp 10-2 win on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Hunter Sweeney made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. Sweeney was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jacob Hines was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Grant Bomer was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Lakota kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matches.
Lakota pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Old Fort, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Old Fort has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lakota struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Old Fort couldn't quite finish off Lakota in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 9-7. Can the Stockaders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
