Basketball Recap: Georgetown Visitation Prep Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Georgetown Visitation Prep lost against Sidwell Friends back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Georgetown Visitation Prep Cubs took a 54-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sidwell Friends Quakers. While losing is never fun, the Cubs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' District of Columbia basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while the Quakers are ranked second).

Despite the defeat, Georgetown Visitation Prep saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Charlotte West dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 boards. Those 13 rebounds set a new season-high mark for West. The team also got some help courtesy of Becca Safavian, who posted four points and 12 boards.

Even though they lost, Georgetown Visitation Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Sidwell Friends got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayla Jackson out in front who went 9 of 21 en route to 20 points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks. That makes it five consecutive games in which Jackson has scored at least a third of Sidwell Friends' points. Autumn Fleary was another key player, going 6 for 15 on her way to 12 points along with six assists and six boards.

Georgetown Visitation Prep's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-6. As for Sidwell Friends, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-1.

Georgetown Visitation Prep has already played their next contest (against Georgetown Day), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Sidwell Friends wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 61-52 defeat against Bullis on the 23rd.
