McAllen Memorial is 9-1 against Rowe since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mustangs will look to defend their home field against the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in McAllen Memorial's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last five games.
McAllen Memorial took a 56-point loss the last time they faced off against Vela, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mustangs had just enough and edged out the Sabercats 31-28. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted since October 11, 2024.

Jayden Soliz had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 205 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 12.8 yards per carry. Those 205 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Braxton Speights, who rushed for 81 yards and one TD.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: McAllen Memorial was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 331 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 219 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Rowe was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 36-30 to Mission. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
McAllen Memorial will have to contain Alexander Lopez Negrete as he made an impact in Rowe's last game. He rushed for 190 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries. Lopez Negrete really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run. Eli Garza was another key player, throwing for 115 yards and one touchdown.
McAllen Memorial's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.0 points over those games. As for Rowe, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. McAllen Memorial has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 338.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Rowe struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 190.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
McAllen Memorial strolled past Rowe in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a score of 42-28. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Warriors' Adrian Botello, who rushed for 61 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 251 yards and two touchdowns. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Mustangs to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
