The El Primero Lobos's six-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 59-45 win over East Palo Alto Academy. That's another feather in the cap for El Primero, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
El Primero had a senior duo take command as RICARDO GARCIA almost dropped a triple-double on 17 points, 28 rebounds, and nine blocks and JOSH CHAVEZ scored 17 points along with nine assists and five steals. That's the first time this season that GARCIA scored 15 or more points. GUSTAVO MALVAES was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
El Primero's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-13. As for East Palo Alto Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
El Primero will head out on the road to face off against Mid-Peninsula at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Mid-Peninsula is on a three-game streak of home losses, El Primero a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. East Palo Alto Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against More at 4:30 p.m. on January 19th. Averaging 62 so far this season, More's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so East Palo Alto Academy better be ready for a challenge.
