Basketball Recap: Cloudcroft Extends Winning Streak to Two

If Mescalero Apache wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Cloudcroft, they should've done a better job of containing Rylee Pahl. The Cloudcroft Bears skirted past the Mescalero Apache Chiefs 49-47 thanks in part to Pahl, who to rack up 24 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. His big performance that afternoon made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points.

Another player making a difference was Tyson Thompkins, who posted seven points along with 12 rebounds and five assists. That's the most boards he has posted since back in January.

The win made it two in a row for Cloudcroft and bumps their season record up to 13-13. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 3-22 Capitan and 6-20 Mescalero Apache. As for Mescalero Apache, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-20 record this season.

Cloudcroft does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mescalero Apache, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 74-57 victory against Capitan on the 24th.
