Connor Thrush posted a new career-high in strikeouts on Thursday. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

Thrush's strong effort led Cherokee Trail over Smoky Hill and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars are 8-2 against the Buffaloes going back to April of 2018, a lead they'll look to extend.
