Carl Albert extended their postseason success on Friday against Collinsville. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 52-14 win over the Cardinals. Considering Carl Albert has won ten matchups by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Kevin Sperry was his usual excellent self, rushing for 60 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 182 yards and two touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Robinson, who rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Bishop McGuinness faced Bishop Kelley in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Bishop McGuinness strolled past Bishop Kelley with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 28-14. The win was familiar territory for Bishop McGuinness who now have four in a row.
Bishop McGuinness' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JP Spanier, who rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown. Damon Cochran ll was another key contributor, throwing for 204 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes.
Carl Albert pushed their record up to 12-0 with that win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35.69 points. As for Bishop McGuinness, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
