The Bertrand Vikings were the 42-33 winner over the Overton Eagles when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Bertrand lost to Overton at home by a decisive 62-48 margin on Saturday. Bertrand found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 18 to 6 on offense.
Bertrand's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jc Kehr, who scored nine points. Thunder Nelson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
Overton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brock McCarter, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Luther, who scored 16 points.
Bertrand's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Overton, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
Bertrand will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Medicine Valley at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. As for Overton, Overton and Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] will face off on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
