The Eustace Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Kemp Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 17 consecutive losses dating back to last season for Eustace and five for Kemp.
Eustace fell victim to Groesbeck's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Goats on the road and fell 62-0. While losing is never fun, Eustace can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1058th, while Groesbeck is ranked 458th).
Meanwhile, Kemp also failed to score in their most recent game. They took a serious blow against Teague on Saturday, falling 50-0. Kemp was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Eustace's loss was their tenth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 5.5 points per game. As for Kemp, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
Eustace was dealt a bruising 54-0 loss at the hands of Kemp when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Eustace, Deacon Thompson (who rushed for 201 yards and four touchdowns on only eight carries, and also threw for 102 yards and a touchdown while completing 75% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
