The Maclay Marauders's and the Sneads Pirates's game on Thursday was close at halftime, but the Maclay Marauders turned on the heat in the second half with 23 points. Maclay was the clear victor by a 39-17 margin over the Pirates. The win made it back-to-back wins for Maclay.
Maclay can attribute much of their success to Aleeza Moore, who scored eight points. Lauren Guyer was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Sneads' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ella Sprouse, who scored three points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Jamea Williams who scored five points along with three steals and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Williams posted two or more blocks.
Maclay pushed their record up to 11-5 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Sneads, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.
Maclay will face off against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Sneads, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on January 19th. Blountstown knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully the Pirates likes a good challenge.
