Even though the Floyd Central Highlanders scored an imposing 61 points on Saturday, the Richmond Red Devils still came out on top. Richmond took down Floyd Central 75-61. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Richmond.
Cedric Horton was the offensive standout of the matchup as he scored 22 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Richmond's points. Another player making a difference was Mason Carpenter, who scored 14 points.
Despite the loss, Floyd Central still got an impressive performance from Brock Conrad, who scored 21 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Robertson, who scored 8 points along with 8 assists and 5 rebounds.
Richmond's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Floyd Central, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Richmond will head out on the road to face off against Marion at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Marion knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Richmond likes a good challenge. As for Floyd Central, they will be playing at home against New Albany at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in New Albany's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
