WestSide has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The WestSide Renegades and the Wayne Pioneers will round out the year against one another at 7:40 p.m. on Friday at. WestSide will be strutting in after a victory while Wayne will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Friday, WestSide didn't have too much trouble with Mingo Central at home as they won 67-50.
WestSide's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Austin Bishop led the charge by scoring 17 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Bishop has scored at least 25% of WestSide's points. Another player making a difference was Coltin Lester, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Wayne's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 67-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Buffalo. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
The losing side was boosted by Isaac Meddings, who scored 26 points along with six rebounds. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Cooper Adkins was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
WestSide pushed their record up to 3-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 29.33 points. As for Wayne, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
