After a string of six wins, the Pollok Central Bulldogs's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a hard 62-48 fall against Marshall. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Pollok Central came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 375th, while Marshall is ranked 885th).
Jake Matthews and Darrius Sherman certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Matthews scored 15 points along with seven rebounds, while Sherman scored 13 points along with four steals. Matthews has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Graham, who scored 11 points.
Pollok Central's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Marshall, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pollok Central will take on Hemphill at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Marshall, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Longview at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Longview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Tuesday.
