The Hickory Hornets will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Carlynton Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hickory will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Hickory, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 66-51 loss to Austintown-Fitch. While losing is never fun, Hickory can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 231st in Pennsylvania, while Austintown-Fitch is ranked 59th in Ohio).
Meanwhile, Carlynton's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 74-52 loss at the hands of Fort Cherry.
Hickory's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Carlynton, they have fallen quite a ways from their 19-8 record last season and are now at 1-4.
