The Brookfield Warriors were the 55-30 winner over the Lakeview Bulldogs when they last played one another back in November of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Brookfield suffered a tough 48-27 defeat at the hands of Lakeview on Wednesday. Brookfield found out winning isn't easy when your three-point shooting is a whole 20% worse than the opposition.
When it comes to explaining why Brookfield lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cailey Wellman. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Jumper, who scored 11 points.
Lakeview was led to victory by Mackenzie Stowe and Annabelle Humphrey. Stowe scored 11 points, while Humphrey scored 12 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Paige Schwartz, who scored 6 points.
Brookfield's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Lakeview, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Brookfield will head out on the road to face off against Springfield at 6:00 p.m. on November 30th. Hopefully Springfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Monday. As for Lakeview, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Champion at 6:15 p.m. Champion presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lakeview in Ohio (Champion is ranked 107th, while Lakeview is ranked 339th).
