Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Opp Bobcats, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell to the Bulldogs 47-41. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Opp of the 34-31 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Opp lost on Monday, one person who can't be blamed is TaKyra Crittenden. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with five assists and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Crittenden has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cuba Wiggins, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Opp smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. This was only their 14th loss (out of 18 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Opp's loss dropped their record down to 4-20. As for Pike County, their win bumped their record up to 3-15.
Opp does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pike County, they will head out on the road to face off against New Brockton at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. New Brockton will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Pike County surely won't give up without a fight.
