On Saturday, the East Thunderbirds faced the Kelly Walsh Trojans in a battle between two of the state's top teams. East walked away with a 48-41 victory over Kelly Walsh. The win was nothing new for East as they're now sitting on three straight.
Kelly Walsh's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jace Nicholls, who scored eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Nicholls, who scored seven points.
East's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. As for Kelly Walsh, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East and Riverton will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Riverton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Saturday. Kelly Walsh and Sheridan will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Sheridan's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games.
