Softball Game Preview: Antwerp Archers vs. Wayne Trace Raiders

The Antwerp Archers will square off against the Wayne Trace Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Antwerp is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Antwerp took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They put the hurt on Kalida with a sharp 15-2 win. The Archers haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Elle Clem was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caroline Rohrs, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and six RBI. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Alia Clem was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Antwerp always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Wayne Trace fell victim to Heritage and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Patriots, falling 6-0. The Raiders haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Antwerp pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Wayne Trace, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Antwerp skirted past Wayne Trace 6-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Archers repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
