The Triway Titans will head out to challenge the Waynedale Golden Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Triway will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Triway and Orrville had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Titans never let the Red Riders get on the board and left with a 22-0 win on Wednesday. That 22 run margin sets a new team best for the Titans this season.
Maddy Moran was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Moran was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Alyssa Hochstetler was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Kenzie Gatti, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Triway kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Waynedale fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Dalton on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 11-10. The Golden Bears have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.
Madi Miller and Kendall Rising did some serious damage despite the final result: Miller scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Rising went 4-for-5 with four RBI. Carleigh Lynch was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.
Waynedale's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Triway, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Waynedale's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Triway has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Waynedale, though, as they've been averaging 10.8 hits. Given Triway's sizable advantage in that area, the Golden Bears will need to find a way to close that gap.
Triway took their victory against Waynedale in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 18-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
