Port Aransas' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Yorktown 11-0. The win continues a trend for the Marlins in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won seven in a row.
August Riedesel made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Bostyn Wagner was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Dylan Chastain, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Aransas Pass was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Rockport-Fulton, falling 9-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Panthers have suffered since February 21st.
Jerry Longoria made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base.
Aransas Pass' loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Port Aransas, the victory was their first on the road, bumping their record up to 3-4.
Aransas Pass' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Port Aransas hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. It's a different story for Aransas Pass, though, as they've only averaged .248. Will they be able to contain Port Aransas' hitters?
