The St. Maries Lumberjacks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight defeat. They suffered a rough 40-19 loss at the hands of Orofino. St. Maries was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Orofino apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played last Thursday.
When it comes to explaining why St. Maries lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sami Sindt. Despite the final result, she scored seven points. Sindt is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight.
Even though they lost, St. Maries smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. This was only their 12th loss (out of 15 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
St. Maries dropped their record down to 3-17 with that loss, which was their ninth straight at home. As for Orofino, their win bumped their record up to 5-12.
St. Maries does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Orofino, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Grangeville at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Grangeville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 713 points over their last ten matches.
