There's no place like home for the Fredonia Yellowjackets, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Friday. They took down Douglass 48-32 on Monday. For Fredonia, this counts as revenge for the 43-34 loss Douglass walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Fredonia can attribute much of their success to Zoey Sims, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 18 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Sims has scored at least 25% of Fredonia's points. Another player making a difference was Harlee Blackwell, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 11 rebounds.
The victory got Fredonia back to even at 1-1. As for Douglass, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fredonia will challenge Bluestem at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th. Douglass will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Conway Springs at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
