Stanfield (Ore.) extended its winning streak to eight games with a 33-14 victory over
Heppner (Ore.) on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run in the second quarter, the Tigers led 14-0 at the half.
Stanfield saw its 14-point halftime lead fall to 13 entering the fourth.
Aidan Wright played well for the Mustangs. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to six on the year.
Heppner came in surrendering 16.8 points per game this season. SHS had given up an average of 11.1 points prior to the contest. HHS's 14 points were well below its season average of 23.0 per game.
The Tigers got revenge for last year's 40-21 loss to the Mustangs with the victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Heppner, which notched a 61-0 victory over Elgin in its previous outing. The loss snapped Heppner's 3-game winning streak.
Stanfield (8-0) goes up against Weston-McEwen/Griswold in a 2A Blue Mountain game matchup next week, while Heppner (4-3) locks horns with Grant Union also in a 2A Blue Mountain game.
