Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Hart's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

Hart won the last time they faced Shelby and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Pirates blew past the Tigers 10-2. Considering the Pirates have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kelsey Copenhaver was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

In other batting news, Reese Smith was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Caydence Bateson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Hart hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shelby struck out 11 times.

Hart is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Shelby, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hart will face off against Orchard View at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates are facing the Cardinals at the right time seeing as the Cardinals are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Shelby, they will head out to challenge Bear Lake at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
