Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Desert walked away with it. They blew past the Trona Tornadoes 11-1 on Friday. The Scorpions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by eight runs or more this season.
Alayna Phillips made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caroline Kesler, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
Desert's win bumped their record up to 14-9. As for Trona, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 11-7 record.
