Mountain Ridge hasn't had much luck against Farmington recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mountain Ridge Sentinels will be home for the holidays to greet the Farmington Phoenix at 7:00 p.m. Mountain Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Farmington likes a good challenge.
While Mountain Ridge didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against East by a score of 57-45 on Wednesday.
Mountain Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Landon Blackwell led the charge by putting up 13 points and eight assists. Another player making a difference was Isaac Langston, who posted 13 points.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Farmington). They managed a 71-65 victory over Northridge on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Phoenix.
Farmington found their leader in sophomore Malakai Tobler, who went 9 of 14 on his way to 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tobler has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brycen Rudolph, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 12 points and eight rebounds.
Mountain Ridge has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.4 points per game. As for Farmington, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-6.
Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Blackwell and Tobler. Blackwell has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 17.3 points and 4.1 assists. For his part, Tobler has averaged 13.8 points and 2 assists while shooting 50% from the three point line.
