Mountain Pointe (Phoenix, Ariz.) bested
Corona del Sol (Tempe, Ariz.) 55-35 while riding the arm of
Antonio Hinojosa, who tossed four touchdown passes.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Hinojosa to
Jalen Brown in the first quarter, the Pride led 28-6 at the half.
Each side put up 14 points during the third quarter, and the fourth quarter began with the margin still at 22.
Hinojosa and Brown teamed up to form a dynamic passing combination. Brown has now caught four touchdowns this season, while Hinojosa has thrown 10.
Mountain Pointe also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 37-6.
The defeat comes as a step back for Corona del Sol, which notched a 48-7 victory over Cibola in its previous outing. The win was a nice bounce back for MP, which lost to Brophy College Prep last week, 54-28.
Corona del Sol (3-4) will play a non-conference game against Chandler next week, while Mountain Pointe (6-1) will take on Kofa also in a non-conference game.
