If the Wadley Bulldogs were riding high off their 40-19 takedown of the LaFayette Bulldogs last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Wadley fell to the Hornets 38-34. Wadley lost against the Hornets in their previous head to head back in February of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 65-34 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Wadley lost on Tuesday, one person who can't be blamed is A'mya Brown. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points. Nevaeh Vigh was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Beauregard to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cooper Watson, who scored six points along with seven steals. Watson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kalise Culbertson, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.
Wadley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. As for Beauregard, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-9.
The two teams will face off at 5:00 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Beauregard focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday. As for they, they will be playing at home against Wadley at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wadley is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
