If the BASIS Phoenix Firebirds were riding high off their 55-19 takedown of the Phoenix Day School for the Deaf Roadrunners on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. BASIS Phoenix fell 51-40 to Lincoln Prep on Saturday. BASIS Phoenix was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lincoln Prep apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2020.
Despite the defeat, BASIS Phoenix saw an underclassman step up: Atharsh Ramkumar scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Hervey, who scored 6 points along with 7 rebounds.
BASIS Phoenix's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Lincoln Prep, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
BASIS Phoenix will face off against Veritas Prep at 6:20 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Veritas Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Saturday. As for Lincoln Prep, they will be playing at home against Chandler Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
